What is a Unscrambler machine and how it works

What is a Unscrambler machine and how it works

The Unscrambler machine, also known as the packaging machine, is a device used to adjust the position of plastic packaging on production lines in the packaging industry. It comes in various shapes and types, but the purpose is the same – automatically adjusting the position of packages at high speeds, eliminating the need for expensive and inefficient manual labor in this process. This article focuses on an important point in the production lines of plastic packaging, which is the Unscrambler machine. Glass, metal, ceramic, and other types of packaging that require alignment need to be fed into the Unscrambler machine. How the Unscrambler machine works: The machine receives packages in random positions, where they are randomly thrown into a large hopper capable of holding thousands of packages. These packages are then handled in various ways from the hopper to other parts of the machine, sorted to obtain an upright package directly on the conveyor to be transported to the next stages – packaging, sealing, labeling, and packaging. There are thousands of different designs and shapes of packages, and each batch of packages must be customized for the Unscrambler machine to function properly, taking into account factors such as the required machine speed, as the Unscrambler machine is at the beginning of a production line.

The design of the packaging can pose a challenge on any part of the filling machine. It can be too flexible and difficult to handle in terms of dimensions (such as having a similar diameter and height).

Machine installation location

Many companies start production lines without a filling machine, and when they decide to add one, they are surprised by the lack of space to place it on the liquid filling line because this type of machine is usually found in large production lines.

It is worth noting that its usual place is before the liquid or powder filling machine, and some customers also place the machine directly before the labeling machine if placing labels on the packages is suitable before filling the liquid or powder.

Materials

The materials used in the production process have an impact on leaving scratch marks, fragility, and quality issues, which can pose a challenge to the workflow. PET packaging may require special treatment to avoid scratches during sorting on the machine.
